“Pagbasa: Susi sa Magandang Kinabukasan”

Today’s National Reading Month Celebration the theme is “Pagbasa: Susi sa Magandang Kinabukasan”
The National Reading  Month is celebrated every November that promotes the love for reading and its importance to the lifelong process of learning among Filipinos. Through reading we can easily understand different things that are written. Reading is an important skill because it helps us in school, it helps us to understand life outside of school and last but not the least, it develops one’s imagination and creativity.

Books keep our mind fresh and thoughts alive. They entertain us and also provide useful information that we may not have known. In fact, if chosen correctly, books can be your best companion. When we read books, we do not feel let down or defeated. We get the inspiration to put in our best efforts and boost our spirits. They give us solace when we feel upset.

“The more you read, the more things you know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”
-Dr. Seuss

National Children’s Day is held all over the world to help children to feel special. One of the main aims of National Children’s Day is educating people on the importance of a healthy childhood. This is the time to help raise awareness for the need to protect the rights of children so that they can become healthy and happy adults.
What our world needs now is for the parents of today’s children to step up and teach their children to be respectful, caring and compassionate children, which one day turn into adults. One of the problems is the law of child abuse and the way children are raised today. This is causing the children of today our future of tomorrow to run rapid, so as the children are becoming young adults, they need to learn to be respectful and courteous to the adults and the world around them.
If a child grows up with discipline and has principle, he will inspire and be a good role model to others. That’s why parents have a great responsibility in shaping the lives of their children.

Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities
All people are entitled to be equal human rights regardless of gender, race and place of residence, religious affiliation, language or nationality. Human Rights are now universal in nature, to mean that they are applicable in every part of the universe to everyone. No person can or should be denied their rights. There are many human rights such as the right to association, the right to education, right to basic needs, the right to live much more. These are just but some of them. Many more human rights should be observed at all times.
Equality or Opportunity is one such combination and it has been a rich source of academic and a widely held conviction about how human beings should live together. Equality of opportunity requires that all human beings are equal in the sphere of opportunity. We have equal opportunities and equal rights in this society.

Essence of Christmas
Every year we look forward to celebrate Christmas with our family and friends. To some, it is a time to shut down all work and rest or travel. To others, it is a time to visit people and have fun with people they haven’t seen in a long time. All these are great and they really make a colorful season. I do enjoy all of that and I do look forward to them every year.
But when I considered all these, I wondered if these are all what Christmas is all about. For me, the main reason for this celebration is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the complete essence of Christmas . 25th of December is the accepted birthday celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ and it has been named Christmas. This is the celebration that is honored by Christians.
Jesus is the essence of Christmas for maximum celebration. So as we celebrate, we should remember that it is a time to appreciate God for sending his son for us. Furthermore, it is a time to share God’s goodness and the good news with others.
